Is Cocoa Beach or New Smyrna Beach better? New Smyrna Beach has small town charm, beach driving, a scenic state park, white sand and very few chain hotels and restaurants on beachside.
Cocoa Beach is closer to Orlando aracons, close to Kennedy Space Center, has cruise ports, has more hotels and chain restaurants and a historic fishing pier that stretches 800 feet over the Atlanc Ocean.
Both beach towns are laid back, known for great surf, family-friendly, have beauful beaches and similar Atlanc Ocean waves.
New Smyrna Beach
This idyllic lile beach town has held onto its charm despite it’s growing popularity. While it’s only 30 minutes south of Daytona Beach, it’s different in just about every way.
Once you make your way over one of the two causeways, you won’t see many chains or any sky high condos. Flagler Avenue has quaint shopping district and a handful of local restaurants in a walkable downtown area.
New Smyrna Beach is also one of the few beaches in America that allow beach driving. If you want to avoid that secon, go past 27th avenue.
One of the highlights of New Smyrna Beach are some of the ecotourism opportunies like Smyrna Dunes Park, Marine Discovery Center and plenty of great paddling trails.
However, if you want to be convenient to Orlando and have access to a wide selecon of chain hotels and restaurants then it won’t be your cup of tea.
There is something about New Smyrna Beach that is just special and makes it feel like a fairy tale of a beach town. It truly is breathtaking with a quiet and laid back vibe.
Cocoa Beach
The most convenient beach to Orlando and also one of the most well known beaches in Florida, Cocoa Beach has a lot to offer. Home to the largest surf shop in the world and a massive 800 foot pier, there is plenty to do for families.
The beaches are prey and there are plenty of hotels to choose from. Then there is also the amazing fact that you can watch cruise ships sail out of port from the beach at Jey Park.
If you’d like to partake in a lot of acvies, like vising Orlando or Kennedy Space Center, then Cocoa Beach is perfect for you.
