Kayaking New Smyrna Beach
Kayaking New Smyrna Beach is a great way to explore the mangroves, Indian River Lagoon system and also to experience the diverse wildlife that is native to New Smyrna Beach.
If you are looking for an opportunity to see dolphins, manatees, rosette spoonbills, ospreys and so much more – kayaking in New Smyrna Beach is the perfect experience for you.
We frequently paddle out into the river and see dolphins on almost every paddle. We spotted a rare rosette spoonbill while kayaking Spruce Creek park and always enjoy spotting coastal birds.

We enjoy exploring the islands and sand bars. During low tide, be careful of oyster beds. The water can get quite shallow during low tide but we love exploring the sand bars. There are always lots of hermit crabs on the sand bars and they can be quite fun for kids to watch.
Spruce Creek Park tends to be much calmer than the open inter coastal waterway. We have seen stunning birds at Spruce Creek Park and we have also seen Jellyfish.
